Bempton Christmas Market

This years Bempton Christmas market is on Sunday the 18th November 2018 on Cliff Lane, 11am until 4pm, all are welcome. As well as a good selection of stalls, Santa will be in his Grotto, the school choir will be preforming, as well as the Piped Band playing and the Community Choir will be entertaining you with a selection of your favourite songs.  For the first time this year there will be a competition for the best dressed festive pet dog and dog with the waggiest tail.  The church hall will be open serving tea's and coffee's as well as a selection of craft stalls in the village hall.

Bempton Parish Council welcomes you to the parishes website and hope that you will find it useful and informative.

Bempton is a village and civic parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, it is situated about 4 miles north of Bridlington and lies on the B1229 road between Speeton and Flamborough. With a population of around 1,000 residents it is served by Bempton railway station which is on the Yorkshire Coast line that runs between Hull and Scarborough. Bempton is well known for its spectacular cliffs and breathtaking views. Recently the village was featured in the 2016 feature film remake of 'Dad's Army'.  Bempton Cliffs is an RSPB nature reserve, best know for its breeding seabirds, including Northern Gannet, Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Common Guillemot, Black-legged Kittiwake and Fulmar.

Bempton parish church St Michael, a Grade ll listed building dating back to the 13th century and located in the centre of the village. Amenities include a post office/general store, hairdressers, antique shop, snooker hall, garage, Primary School, public house/restaurant, holiday accommodations and a modern community hall.  In Buckton there is a delightful tea room, art gallary and holiday accommodations.

Defibrillator

The village defibrillator for Bempton and Buckton, is located on the outside wall of the Community Hall in a yellow metal safe, to the right of the main entrance. When you call 999 the operator will decide whether you need to retrieve the defibrillator, at this point they will give you the location and code to open the door. The 999 operator will talk you through how to use the defibrillator should it be required. The defibrillator is owned and maintained by the parish council.

 

 

HEALTHY HOMES PROJECT

Humber & Wolds Rural Community Council.

Do you live in a cold home? Will your health be affected by the cold this winter?

The project aims to help rural residents with an existing health condition, made worse by living in a cold home. The new initiative called the Healthy Homes Project is funded by the British Gas Energy Trust. Humber & Wolds Rural Community Council (HWRCC) is co-ordinating a united effort with the local authority and voluntary & community sector groups, carers associations, home improvement agencies, health professionals and other to focus on improving winter health, energy efficiency, warming cold homes and providing emergency support. This will address the root causes of cold homes and its effect on those living with health conditions.
